Wow, the reflection is stunning! silhouette is amazing too! There is a strange symmetry with the edge of the hill and the person which I dig. My one suggestion is that you crop it to remove all the black at the bottom. Just wasted space :\ truly a great photo otherwise.

hey man, thanks for your comments...

i gotta say it though...I disagree with the black being wasted space. The weight of the black anchors the shot, and sets the tone - it's deeeeep!!!. It's nice as a reference to the black sand found on AKL's west coast beaches too - there's enough detail there.

Maybe it's just a tast thing, but i reckon the black is pretty important to the shot. I tried cropping it after your suggestion...and it kinda killed it. Try it if you can be bothered...keen to hear what you think. (maybe just cover up the black with your hand on the screen...)

I tried it in the form of full viewing and scrolling down so that most of the sand was not visable (yeah 19" lcd!). After hearing the "anchor theory" I'd say that makes sense if that's what you are going for. Maybe my lcd's colors are off and I just can't see the detail in the sand so much.. in any case, I still totally dig this shot!

beautiful. i like the reflection. although it would have looked better in my opinion if you had photgraphed the entire cliff to the left (leaving out /partially/ that black part).
